Grandad; the one with silver in his hair and a heart made of gold. No time is ever going to be right to say goodbye, but we'll reminisce in the many memories you gave to each of us. A grandad who was full of cuddles, yet was wise and admired above all. You shared your wisdom with everyone you met through knowledge and stories that were so real we we're right there with you. At times I thought I was a pilot in the war myself! No age is old enough to leave us, but your lifetime was more than well lived and that we will all remember. From your time in the war, to meeting the love of your life, becoming a father and then most importantly a grandfather and everything else in between. Witty beyond words, yet wise, even beyond YOUR years. You had more knowledge, in my view, than any dictionary I NEVER read! I don't think there was ever a crossword or wordsearch answer that defeated you. An inspiration to everyone you met, a true gentleman, who we are honoured to call our own. I know you were 96, but you were still young in my eyes, and you left far too quickly, but I understand your time had come. I will be forever grateful I got to spend some time with you before you left us. (Even if you did just secretly want to share my birthday date with me) And although it was so hard to let you go, your peaceful leaving made the pain that bit bareable. I miss you already Grandad, I miss our walks to feed the ducks, I miss the amazing bedtime stories (especially igaleepop and oogalpop) I miss you teaching me how to play bowls (bend the knees) I miss going for a 'beer' in the club, I miss listening to your life story, I miss our emails and video calls (yes my 96 year old grandad was a tech wizard too) , I miss your jokes and your infectious smile. We all miss you. But we thank you, thank you for living such a wonderful life and giving us all so many happy memories. The love you gave to each of us throughout your lifetime will never be forgotten, just as much as you won't. Always and forever, Your granddaughter x Gone you leave a heartache, that no one can ever heal, but your love leaves us memories, that no one can ever steal.
